DANVILLE, CA FEBRUARY 3, 2016 Jason Scherer’s #76 Rubicon Express Nitto Tire car took the pole position for Friday’sNitto King of the Hammers. One of two drivers to bust the 2-minute mark, Jason Scherer laid down a very clean and respectful 1:54.73 time. This will be the former 2009 King’s third pole position, his other being in 2013 and 2015.
“Qualifying course was the same as last, but run in the opposite direction and it was neat to beat my time from last year by a couple seconds, proving the car is even better this year. It’s everyone’s desire to start in the front of the King of the Hammers and be clear of traffic jams and dust and I look forward to race day and making the most of the opportunity we have ahead of us to win this insane race again! said Scherer.
“I can’t say enough about Rubicon Express and the support that they have given me throughout the years to be competitive. Also, for my team discussion on air pressure for the Nitto Tires before qualifying that obviously worked out as they hooked up and launched up the hills and through the rocks,” said Scherer. “For this to be a 4 Wheel Parts qualifier, I am really happy for everyone on the Rubicon Express team to be part of this pole position with us.”
Jason Scherer has a considerable history with King of the Hammers and Ultra4 Racing. He was the winner of the 2009 Griffin King of the Hammers and has finished all but two of the races in the top 25 at King of the Hammers since 2008. He has also won the 2012 and 2013 Nitto National Championship Race, and 2013 Metalcloak Stampede.
The car is prepped in Danville, California at Jason’s house with hours of assistance from friends and family. The Rage 4th and Team Awesome crews are ready to support Jason in his efforts on Friday.
