Proceeds go entirely towards supporting the future of the Rubicon Trail
PLACERVILLE, CA SEPTEMBER 23, 2013: The Rubicon Trail Foundation would like to thank every person and company across the country that participated in this years 9th Annual Cantina for the Con, which strictly benefits the Rubicon Trail in Northern California. The event that consisted of a Pre-Sale BBQ and a two-day event at the mouth of the Rubicon Trail had a Raffle that was an amazing mix of products and the best Tacos on the Rubicon. “So many people think of the Rubicon Trail as a 4×4 only trail, but we see UTV’s, Motorcycles, Trials Bikes, Quads, Horses, Hikers, Bikers and others utilizing the trail,” said Rusty Folena, President of the Rubicon Trail Foundation. “Our Foundation works every day to keep this trail open for anyone to use, specifically all types of motorized access. We want to thank everyone that participated in this year’s annual fundraiser; the entire Board of Directors sincerely appreciates it. We hope everyone had fun and will plan on joining us again next year.”
The weekend was crammed with activities from a Taco line that was open from 10am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday, to a vendor midway that had over 30 vendors showing products for all types of vehicles, a Log Sawing Contest, areas for RC Rock Crawlers, Ice Cream and giveaways everywhere including a Coupon Book compliments of the Cantina for the Con sponsors. Saturday the Recon G6’ers had a huge event with the RC Rock Crawlers, Saturday night Raceline Wheels hosted the first Movie Night featuring multiple off-road movies and Sunday the Raffle took place at 3pm where all those in the Spillway got to see and leave with many awesome products. Of course, this was just a stop for many that were enjoying the holiday weekend on the Rubicon Trail.
Raceline Wheels and Falken Tire joined for the second year as presenting sponsors. Additional cash sponsors who helped meet the goals included Genright Offroad, Metal Cloak, 4Wheel Parts, Jaws Gear & Axle, Advance Adapters, OffRoad Jerkey and Varozza 4×4 Outfitters. Programs including the RAGE Foundation, the Rubicon Rockheads Offroad Ice Cream Truck and the CORVA Log Sawing Competition also added to these goals. An anonymous donor matched $15,000, and the users of the Rubicon Trail via raffle tickets, tacos or BBQ, donated the remainder.
Key marketing partners included 96.9 the Eagle and 98 Rock, RuffStuff Specialties, Marlin Crawlers, Pitbull Tires, Cal4Wheel, CORVA and Sierra Smokehouse BBQ. The list of Raffle Prize donators is amazing. These companies help us reward those who donate and participate in the Cantina for the Con event. The 501(c)3 Donation helps the Rubicon Trail Foundation meet it’s goals. Their mission: “To enhance the future health and use of the Rubicon Trail, while ensuring responsible motorized year-round trail access.” The monetary support goes towards continued monitoring of important legal issues and political involvement at the Local and Federal level. On trail, the money is used to educate trail users via mid-trail staff, supporting organized work parties and accessing private property for public enjoyment.
The Rubicon Trail Foundation is a federally recognized, non-profit organization dedicated to the future health of the Rubicon Trail. The Rubicon Trail acts as the support for Rubicon work projects and as a liaison with local government organizations. This support can range from getting approval for projects from the appropriate agencies, to feeding the volunteers, to buying the supplies needed to maintain the trail. We also fight the efforts of others to close or restrict use of the Rubicon Trail System. All funds raised help to enhance the future health of the Rubicon Trail, while ensuring responsible motorized year-round access.
Our Officers and Directors represent a wide variety of Rubicon Trail users and supports. These include trail users, land owners, county representatives, manufacturers, and Rubicon event organizers.
