YES!! We have a ton of awesome pictures! Friday Main Race, EMC, UTV, Qualifying, KOT etc. I am very excited with what we have seen each night and we are already in the process of sorting them per racer.
The Picture Packages are pretty simple this year, we have a $400 package of pics and a $150 package of pics. Then, if you would like one of our awesome new photo gifts we can add that in. Official Press Release: JT Taylor Takes 12th Checkered Flag at 2013 King of the Hammers
With months of prep behind them, OG13 JT Taylor, co-driver Doug Nagy and crew headed out with the Torchmate #13 racer to the sand and rocks of Lucerne Valley, CA. Pre-running the racecourse on Sunday and Monday, and then qualifying on Tuesday went well. JT took it easy on the car during qualifying putting them in the 85th starting position out of 127 starters. By the end of the day on Friday, they had earned a 12th place finishing position of only 19 finishers within the time limit, where only 27 actually finished the race.

Official Press Release: LetzRoll Offroad Racing Ultra4 Finishes 2013 King of the Hammers and Three Every Man Challenge Cars Fight to the End
With 4 cars on course between Friday’s 2013 Griffin King of the Hammers and Thursdays Smittybilt Every Man Challenge, LetzRoll Offroad race team was busy with every aspect of the race week. Andrew McLaughlin, driver of Ultra4 #4493 and owner of LetzRoll Offroad, finished 18th at the esteemed 2013 Griffin King of the Hammers giving them an automatic entry into the 2014 race. All three of the Smittybilt Everyman Challenge drivers didn’t make it to the finish line, but each have a story behind their hearty efforts including Alan Johnson #4511, Shawn Passmore #4669 and Matt Salyers #4634. “There is no doubt it was a challenging week with all four cars racing, but we all pulled together as a team to help each other accomplish projects and get to the starting line,” said Andrew McLaughlin about the team he formed. “The Saturday morning after the race was bittersweet. We had just finished the hardest race ever and we had to pack up and leave. When I looked around there wasn’t one person that didn’t have a smile on their face. Everyone was happy and pumped about the whole experience. It was a great ending to a great week.”

Official Press Release: Jason Scherer Man Powers Every Rock Trail Twice at 2013 King of the Hammers
Jason Scherer started on the pole position at the 2013 Griffin King of the Hammers presented by Nitto Tires, proceeded directly to Back Door where he one-shotted the obstacle perfectly and after regaining positions was 4th through the RM38 remote pit. From there it was a battle of man over machine. “It was absolutely without a doubt the hardest thing I have every done to drive every rock trail twice without power steering,” said the 2009 King Jason Scherer who has finished in the top 20 for 4 consecutive years. “I finished 21st with 25 minutes to go, my arms and shoulders brutally beaten and cold as hell, but I didn’t give up.”

Official Press Release: TJ Flores Rocks at the Front of 2013 King of the Hammers
Trophy Truck racer T.J. Flores sized up the rock racing competition at the 2013 Griffin King of the Hammers and qualified for the 3rd starting position. When the right rear spindle broke out of the axle housing 11 miles into the main race they limped it back to main pit and decided to not fix it. “It was pretty incredible qualifying 3rd out of the best rock guys out there,” said TJ Flores, owner of Champion Race Works in Las Vegas, NV. “It was extremely disappointing when we only made it 11 miles in the main race. After we limped back to the main pit, I pulled off my helmet, took off my race suit and went to helping fix cars that were coming through the main pit. Got to be a team player.”

Official Press Release: Lucas Murphy 40 Miles of Fury at 2013 King of the Hammers
Lucas Murphy designed a brand new car for the 2013 Griffin King of the Hammers. 2012 may have seemed like a quiet year for Murphy’s Law Motorsports, but they placed 3rd at the Ultra4 Rausche Creek Qualifying for KOH, built a new car, and built a toterhome and trailer setup. On the Johnson Valley lakebed this month, they qualified early on Tuesday keeping the car together and sat in the top 10 for most of the day finally settling at the 52nd starting position for Friday’s race. They only made it 40 miles in the King of the Hammers before they limped back to main pit with a transmission failure. “To win, you have to have a perfect day with a proven car. Our short 40 miles was awesome, and really we could have kept going forward, but we didn’t want to jeopardize anyone else’s race. It was pretty uneventful,” said car owner and driver of record Lucas Murphy.

Official Press Release: OffRoad Design Stephen Watson Maintains Solid Race Pace at 2013 King of the Hammers
Stephen Watson, driver of record for Offroad Design #4488, and brother / co-driver Brandon Watson gave the 2013 Griffin King of the Hammers their all for 14 hours with no giving up. Two issues plagued their day, the first a broken spindle on a D60 front axle putting them down for 3 hours, and then the pinion yoke was damaged and the driveshaft came out about 40 miles short of the finish timing them out of the race. This is the first time in 5 years they have not finished the ‘toughest race’ on US soil. “We were running a strong pace all day, but with the three hours of down time we essentially timed out,” said Stephen Watson, driver and owner of Offroad Design. “Dave did good! I still can’t believe that we pay people to do that to us,” he laughed about Hammerking Productions brutal 182 mile course.

Official Press Release: Rocking J Offroad and Crossed-Up Customs Team up for 2013 King of the Hammers
Rocking J Offroad’s John Brock has participated in motorsport for over 30 years, competing in dirt track, stock cars, drag racing, and tractor pulling. After getting involved with extreme rock crawling in his native state of Arizona John started racing his trail buggy in Lucas Oil Short Course races and WERock Dirt Riot events.
As the racing bug took hold again, it became evident that the trail rig was just not set up for speed, so in the summer of 2012 a phone call was made to fellow Tucson resident Mike Klensin of Crossed-Up Customs and one of their ‘Ultra SS’ buggy chassis’ was ordered.

Official Press Release: Holy Moly Racing George Kane Pushes Limits at 2013 King of the Hammers
Holy Moly Racing and George Kane may not be common names among those at the King of the Hammers, but their intent and enthusiasm put them at the 2012 Smittybilt Every Man Challenge race and this year in the 2013 King of the Hammers. With Bond Gilmer, President of Rebel Offroad, by his side as co-driver this team had one goal in mind: Finish. “Our strategy was to make the car last the entire race. As we headed into the desert we were flying over the whoops, our King Shocks were performing excellent and we started passing other cars,” said Kane. “It wasn’t even 10 minutes into the race and there was a car broken down on the side of the track. Bond kept reminding me ‘make the car last, look someone is already broken down!’ As we continued we came across another broken car, then another and another, there were broken cars everywhere! It was like a pick-a-part lot for Ultra4 cars out there,” laughed George.

Official Press Release: Raceline Wheels at Every Turn of 2013 King of the Hammers
There is no questioning that Raceline Wheels was a very active part of the 2013 Griffin King of the Hammers presented by Nitto Tires. In Hammertown, the 80ft booth was filled with vehicles proudly displaying Raceline Wheels and hosted the Thursday night Volunteer and Driver taco dinner. Out on the racecourse, Greg Mulkey and Bart Dixon raced a brand new 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport in the Smittybuilt Every Man Challenge and at the finish line Raceline presented $1,000 to Stock Class Raceline Wheels finisher Matt Peterson, one of the three contingency checks available to winners. “It was a busy, busy week!” said Greg Mulkey, Off-Road Division Manager for Raceline / Allied Wheels. “I look forward to this week all year long, getting to see the racers from the East that we don’t get to see enough, and really this week is all about supporting and giving back to those that support Raceline Wheels all year long.”
